　　College is always considered as a turning point in our educational career and life. I would use adaptationas the key word when describing my first year at college.

　　As we enter a new school, we first have to adapt a new environment and meet new people.As we leave home and move into the school dormitory, we need to learn to live and get along with other people who have different living habit. And as we start a higher level education, we need to adopt a new way of study. Teachers are no more like the ones in high school that will push us to learn.

　　Instead, we have more options and spare time to do what we want.

　　I am glad that I have overcome the difficulties and adapted the new life of college. I have achieved a lot more than I expected at my first year of college. First of all, I have made new friends who share the same hobbies and met new teachers who inspire me in all way. Secondly, I have become more independent. I have got used to a new way of study and often study different things by myself. I can take care of myselfwithout parents being by my side all the time. 　　mr. he is a conscientious man with a pair of black framed glasses.he goes to great lengths to provide us with knowledge.the more, the better.we are nailed on seats for 55 minutes rather than 45 minutes in one class, because in his mental die tionary there is no conception of "class over" until the teacher of the net class smiles at him at the door. with a book and a piece of chalk in his hands, he looks like a well armed soldier, forcing us to take notes from the very first minute to the last. we have to fi our eyes on the blackboard for fear of missing a single word. so his class is really a trial to us. however, i must admit he is so logical and consistent in thinking that he provides us with knowledge in the clearest and the simplest way. the light of wisdom is shining behind those two black frames. therefore,he is very welcome.

　　about half an hour into the drive, i rounded a corner and noticed two small children, aged around 10, waiting to cross the road after getting off their school bus. my mind was not particularly focused on them because i thought they would not cross the road when a truck was coming through on their side. the two kids looked to their left, watching the truck intensely. as soon as the truck passed, and without a thought, they started to dash across the road. i was petrified, to say the least. my heart almost leaped out of my throat. time seemed to have come to a standstill. it was like a nightmare coming into reality. i felt i was in the slow motion crash scene of a movie. i did not even have the time to brake or steer clear.

　　by providence smiled on me that day. the two kids missed my car by less than an inch. imagine what would have happened if i had hit them? they would have been killed instantly. i would have been charged with manslaughter and thrown into jail. my career would be over before it even got started. the kind of inhumane treatment i would receive from fellow inmate, i could only guess but hate to imagine. i will never be a whole person again even if i were to be released early for good behavior. my life would be over. even if i had a good lawyer that could have gotten me off, i would have carried that guilt in my mind for the rest of my life.

　　How to Solve the Problem of Heavy Traffic

　　Nowadays, China‘s cities are getting increasingly crowded. The rapid increase in population is being made worse by the steady influx of people from the rural areas seeking employment. As a result, heavy traffic is a big headache, with all the roads packed with cars, bicycles and pedestrians.

　　In my opinion, there are two ways to solve the problem. One is to build more and wider roads to make the public highways less crowded and speed up the flow of traffic. The other is to expand the number of public bus routes, so that more people can be transported and fewer people will have to travel by car or bicycle.

　　However, each of these solutions brings problems with it. The former may occupy too much land that could be used for farms or houses; the latter may cause inconvenience for long periods in bus lines.
