the drawing of political lines goes to the motivation behind impeachment; but impeachment must proceed within the confines of the constitutional term "high crime[s] and misdemeanors." of the impeachment process, it was woodrow wilson who said that "nothing short of the grossest offenses against the plain law of the land will suffice to give them speed and effectiveness. indignation so great as to overgrow party interest may secure a conviction; but nothing else can."
common sense would be revolted if we engaged upon this process for petty reasons. congress has a lot to do: appropriations, tax reform, health insurance, campaign finance reform, housing, environmental protection, energy sufficiency, mass transportation. pettiness cannot be allowed to stand in the face of such overwhelming problems. so today we are not being petty. we are trying to be big, because the task we have before us is a big one.
this morning, in a discussion of the evidence, we were told that the evidence which purports to support the allegations of misuse of the cia by the president is thin. we're told that that evidence is insufficient. what that recital of the evidence this morning did not include is what the president did know on june the 23rd, 1972.
the president did know that it was republican money, that it was money from the committee for the re-election of the president, which was found in the possession of one of the burglars arrested on june the 17th. what the president did know on the 23rd of june was the prior activities of e. howard hunt, which included his participation in the break-in of daniel ellsberg's psychiatrist, which included howard hunt's participation in the dita beard itt affair, which included howard hunt's fabrication of cables designed to discredit the kennedy administration.
we were further cautioned today that perhaps these proceedings ought to be delayed because certainly there would be new evidence forthcoming from the president of the united states. there has not even been an obfuscated indication that this committee would receive any additional materials from the president. the committee subpoena is outstanding, and if the president wants to supply that material, the committee sits here. the fact is that on yesterday, the american people waited with great anxiety for eight hours, not knowing whether their president would obey an order of the supreme court of the united states.
at this point, i would like to juxtapose a few of the impeachment criteria with some of the actions the president has engaged in. impeachment criteria: james madison, from the virginia ratification convention. "if the president be connected in any suspicious manner with any person and there be grounds to believe that he will shelter him, he may be impeached."
we have heard time and time again that the evidence reflects the payment to defendants money. the president had knowledge that these funds were being paid and these were funds collected for the 1972 presidential campaign. we know that the president met with mr. henry petersen 27 times to discuss matters related to watergate, and immediately thereafter met with the very persons who were implicated in the information mr. petersen was receiving. the words are: "if the president is connected in any suspicious manner with any person and there be grounds to believe that he will shelter that person, he may be impeached."

Its my honor to speak here and I am very glad to share my topic with all of you. Today Id like to talk about “my dream”。 I do not just have one dream, in fact, I have three. They are: a healthy life, a happy family and to travel my great country.
I have always admired the long healthy life my grandparents have. They are older than 80 years of age and they are still alive and kicking! How do they do that!? My grandparents plant vegetables and grow rice themselves; even in their old age they still make food for themselves! I guess that is why they can remain healthy. More importantly they remain humble and never ask for too much from life. Perhaps that makes them common, but they live a happy life. My grandmother once told me this:” I do not want to live long, only long enough for some grand children to be running around in my house”。 I want to live a long, healthy and happy life just as they have.
Since my graduation from primary school, until now, every time on my birthday I make the same wish. I wish my parents will not fight anymore. I am not complaining that they gave me a bad childhood, they just fight so much! I am unhappy but that does not mean they do not love me. They do! They love me with all their heart. I love my parents also; I want them to live a happy life as well.
I want to travel this great country of ours. I want to see the beauty of our country. I want to see the miracles that made this country great! I want to go from the east to west, from the north all the way down to the south! I have a dream, that one day I can travel and see my country with my family and friends! If that is not possible, seeing my country on my own is good enough also. If I can fulfill all three of my dreams in life, then God can take me away. I would be happy, and l would have lived a full and prosperous life.

四、演講比賽
1、比賽規(guī)則
1）比賽以公平公正為原則，以豐富和活躍校園生活、促進(jìn)交流與溝通為宗旨，分為預(yù)賽和決賽二個(gè)階段，預(yù)賽在級(jí)部?jī)?nèi)部進(jìn)行，由各級(jí)部自行組織實(shí)施，選出5名選手參與決賽。決賽在整個(gè)高二級(jí)部?jī)?nèi)部進(jìn)行。
2）大賽分為自我介紹，演講比賽，才藝展示三個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)。依據(jù)評(píng)委打分計(jì)算出成績(jī)，最后頒發(fā)一等獎(jiǎng)、二等獎(jiǎng)、三等獎(jiǎng)和參與獎(jiǎng)。

3、比賽具體過(guò)程
第一個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)：選手簡(jiǎn)要作自我介紹，大約每人1分鐘，由評(píng)委打分（20分）。
第二個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)：演講總分50分。選手依次上臺(tái)演講，大約每人五分鐘。
第三個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)：才藝展示總分30分。
第四個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)：演講結(jié)束后，由評(píng)委作總評(píng)。并依據(jù)比賽成績(jī)宣布各參賽選手成績(jī)。
五、具體評(píng)分細(xì)則：

比賽流程：
初賽：1、命題演講：選手按照規(guī)定的主題進(jìn)行3分鐘的命題演講。（演講主題的規(guī)定到時(shí)采用向全系學(xué)生征集，盡可能的采用大家最關(guān)注的話題，真正的達(dá)到從學(xué)生中來(lái)到學(xué)生中去的原則。
2、回答問(wèn)題：選手回答兩位評(píng)委分別就命題演講的內(nèi)容提出2個(gè)問(wèn)題，答題時(shí)間為2分鐘。
決賽：1、即興演講：把所有的話題之前告知各選手，讓他們有個(gè)準(zhǔn)備，選手按照比賽當(dāng)場(chǎng)抽取的題目進(jìn)行即興演講，時(shí)限為2分鐘。
總分及其分布

2、 命題演講占70%，回答問(wèn)題占30%。

Graduation Day
A day passed, then a week, then a month. Before I could blink, it was graduation day. I watched as her perfect body floated like an angel up on stage to get her diploma. I wanted her to be mine, but she didn't notice me like that, and I knew it. Before everyone went home, she came to me in her smock and hat, and cried as I hugged her. Then she lifted her head from my shoulder and said, "you're my best friend, thanks" and gave me a kiss on the cheek. A。比賽開(kāi)始：主持人入場(chǎng)，介紹領(lǐng)導(dǎo)，宣布賽制。B。選手依次登臺(tái)演講。
（3）、比賽規(guī)則：
A。 成績(jī)計(jì)算：評(píng)委根據(jù)選手綜合表現(xiàn)現(xiàn)場(chǎng)打分（評(píng)分保留兩位小數(shù)），評(píng)委成績(jī)中去掉一個(gè)最高分和一個(gè)最低分后的平均分為參賽選手的最終成績(jī)。
B。 參賽選手的最終成績(jī)，從高分到低分依次排列名次，確定獲獎(jiǎng)等次。

7—9年級(jí)分A、B組設(shè)獎(jiǎng)：A組：一等獎(jiǎng)1名 二等獎(jiǎng)1名

七、工作安排和人員分配
總調(diào)度：（姚乾文）
1宣傳組 組長(zhǎng)：（姚乾文）負(fù)責(zé)制作和打印評(píng)分標(biāo)準(zhǔn)、評(píng)分表、總分表。
2后勤組 組長(zhǎng)：（李平：楊婕 張春花）負(fù)責(zé)比賽現(xiàn)場(chǎng)的布置，觀眾席安排及入場(chǎng)引導(dǎo)，采購(gòu)和保管紀(jì)念品、獎(jiǎng)品、黑色粗筆和中性筆。配合其他各組工作，保證比賽的順利進(jìn)行。

八、注意事項(xiàng)
1、提前通知所有參賽人員，若在比賽中，三次提示未到的選手，視為自動(dòng)放棄比賽。
2、初賽各班選拔參賽選手要認(rèn)真對(duì)待。
3、抽簽做到公平公正。
4、各負(fù)責(zé)人及評(píng)委保證比賽時(shí)的秩序，在每場(chǎng)比賽前做好充分的準(zhǔn)備工作，以利于選手在比賽時(shí)發(fā)揮自己的最佳水平。
5、演講者到指定區(qū)域就坐，其他同學(xué)以班級(jí)為單位就坐。
6、評(píng)分要嚴(yán)格按照評(píng)分標(biāo)準(zhǔn)進(jìn)行，最后負(fù)責(zé)人上繳評(píng)分原始材料。
7、選手進(jìn)行3分鐘自選題目的演講，演講盡量為脫稿演講。
8、各班級(jí)選擇男女主持各一名；進(jìn)入決賽選手名單、演講稿提前一周上交。

time went by… the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day. one day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. “come and play with me,” the tree asked the boy. “i am no longer a kid, i don't play around trees anymore.” the boy replied, “i want toys. i need money to buy them.” “sorry, but i don't have money…but you can pick all my apples and sell them. so, you will have money.” the boy was so excited. he grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. the boy never came back after he picked the apples. the tree was sad.
one day, the boy returned and the tree was so excited. “come and play with me,” the tree said. “i don't have time to play. i have to work for my family. we need a house for shelter. can you help me?” “sorry, but i don't have a house. but you can chop off my branches to build your house.” so the boy cut all the branches off the tree and left happily. the tree was glad to see him happy but the boy never came back since then. the tree was again lonely and sad.
one hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was delighted. “come and play with me!” the tree said. “i am sad and getting old. i want to go sailing to relax myself. can you give me a boat?” “use my trunk to build your boat. you can sail far away and be happy.” so the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. he went sailing and never showed up for a long time. the tree was happy, but it was not true.
finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years. “sorry, my boy. but i don't have anything for you anymore. no more apples for you…” the tree said.
“i don't have teeth to bite,” the boy replied.
“no more trunk for you to climb on.”
“i am too old for that now,” the boy said.
“i really can't give you anything… the only thing left is my dying roots,” the tree said with tears.
“i don't need much now, just a place to rest. i am tired after all these years.” the boy replied.

在篤行文化活動(dòng)月之際，為了豐富文化月的內(nèi)容和廣大同學(xué)的課余生活，篤行工作站決定舉辦篤行之星英語(yǔ)演講比賽
活動(dòng)目的：
〈1〉提高同學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)的積極性，特別是提高對(duì)英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)訓(xùn)練的積極性。
〈2〉豐富大學(xué)生的課余生活。
〈3〉為大學(xué)生提供一個(gè)學(xué)習(xí)和交流英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)的平臺(tái)，共同進(jìn)步。
〈4〉加深對(duì)英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)的重要性的.認(rèn)識(shí)。

活動(dòng)前期：
1、 制作海報(bào)5張，比賽前兩周張貼于凌云、篤行、勤業(yè)、食堂門口(2張)
2、 比賽前一周再一次張貼海報(bào)(篤行工作站宣傳欄)，對(duì)此次大賽進(jìn)行宣傳。若有企業(yè)贊助，為企業(yè)專門策劃宣傳海報(bào)。
3、 比賽前一周在校內(nèi)懸掛宣傳橫幅(篤行工作站門口，通往食堂的過(guò)道)，與比賽當(dāng)天轉(zhuǎn)置比賽現(xiàn)場(chǎng)。
4、 比賽前一周在篤行門口及食堂門口發(fā)放報(bào)名表
5、 各團(tuán)支書鼓勵(lì)推薦有此方面特長(zhǎng)的人參加
6、 進(jìn)行初賽時(shí)，并配以同期的海報(bào)和學(xué)校電臺(tái)宣傳
活動(dòng)開(kāi)展：
比賽分為初賽和決賽兩階段：
初賽：
1、每位選手有1分鐘的自我介紹。40%
2、每十個(gè)選手一組，在特定的場(chǎng)景下，自由發(fā)揮想象，可以找搭檔表演也可個(gè)人表演，看誰(shuí)能吸引評(píng)委的注意。準(zhǔn)備時(shí)間2分鐘，表演3分鐘。60%
初賽決出十名選手參加決賽
決賽：
1.選手2分鐘的自我介紹30%
2、.故事接龍：選手分兩組進(jìn)行
由評(píng)委給出一個(gè)開(kāi)頭，選手根據(jù)編號(hào)講故事接下去，每人可以根據(jù)自己的需要進(jìn)行接龍，可適當(dāng)穿插表演，每人時(shí)間上限為2分鐘，下限一分鐘。35%
評(píng)分細(xì)則：
初賽評(píng)委：2名英語(yǔ)老師、2名海外學(xué)生(精通外語(yǔ))
決賽評(píng)委：2名中國(guó)英語(yǔ)老師、2名外教
1、現(xiàn)場(chǎng)打分
2、根據(jù)選手的應(yīng)變能力、表現(xiàn)力、臺(tái)風(fēng)、語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調(diào)來(lái)給分(總分100)

2.中期宣傳
1、公布進(jìn)入初賽的選手名單,并相繼公布復(fù)賽時(shí)間;地點(diǎn),以及評(píng)委團(tuán).
2、公布進(jìn)入復(fù)賽的選手名單,并相繼公布決賽時(shí)間,地點(diǎn),以及評(píng)委團(tuán).
3、公布進(jìn)入決賽的選手名單,并相繼公布決賽時(shí)間,地點(diǎn),以及評(píng)委團(tuán).
4、在公布復(fù)賽，決賽名單的同時(shí),將會(huì)在學(xué)校展開(kāi)以橫幅,展板等方式的宣傳.以此增加同學(xué)們的關(guān)注度,并以此激勵(lì)自己.
3.后期宣傳
1、將活動(dòng)的最終結(jié)果以海報(bào)形式向全體師生公布.
2、對(duì)本活動(dòng)進(jìn)行跟蹤調(diào)查，以問(wèn)卷調(diào)查形式，統(tǒng)計(jì)本活動(dòng)的得失之處,作好賽后處理工作. 集思廣益，以增進(jìn)交流，收集意 見(jiàn),促進(jìn)活動(dòng)的不斷完善和發(fā)展。
3、聯(lián)系校內(nèi)媒體，中南青年，校報(bào)，廣播臺(tái)及校團(tuán)委網(wǎng)站進(jìn)行相關(guān)報(bào)道。
4、依據(jù)調(diào)查問(wèn)卷，進(jìn)行活動(dòng)評(píng)估和總結(jié)。
5、向選手征集比賽感言,選取優(yōu)秀感言在校內(nèi)投掛.
