When we talk about dreams,we are so excited.We all have our own dreams,some want to be teachers,others want to be doctors,others want to be scientists.However,not all dreams can come true,as people always give them up for some reason.
A dream is to a man what wings are to a bird. With a dream in the deep heart`s core, a man is spontaneously driven to hitch his wagon to a star. A dream is an inexhaustible source of energy that keeps our enthusiasm burning, and kindles our desire to enhance our spiritual cultivation, refine our character, and upgrade our quality of life. A life without a dream is like a bird with broken wings, confined to a cage and oblivious of what lies beyond the range of its vision. On the contrary, a man with a dream is like a warrior armed with ambition, foresight and gallantry, daring to step into an unknown domain to make a journey of adventure. It is dream that adds fullness, variety, and spice to our life and makes it worth living.
I would like to take Liu Xiang as an example.Liu,as the first chinese man to win an Olympic track and field medal,dreamed of defending his Olympic title on home soil.To achieve this dream,he was bathed with sweat on the training ground every day.What’s more,now and then he suffered injuries.However,neither the injury nor the pressure has prevented him from striving to achieve the goal.Eventually,he kept or even renewed his record in the men’s 110-meter hurdle with his perseverance.
It is true that barriers may sometimes stand in the way of your dreams,but remember success is hiding behind them.Instead of making dozens of excuses for your failure,just think about Liu Xiang’s story,hold on your dreams and never give up.
If you do not want your dreams to come to naught,then hold fast to your dreams and never give up.Just as the saying goes,”Do not,for one repulse,forgo the purpose that you resolved to effect.”
If you can do the following points,your dreams will come true one day.First,plant your dream in a fertilized soil.Second,water it with your diligence and give it the best food----knowledge.Third,remove the seeds of unhappiness for they can destory your dream.The most important is let the seed of your dream enjoy the beautiful sunshine,so what it can grow well.And however hard the situation is,o not give it up and always give it your best care.Then you will get a good harvest in the end.
Dreams are what we pursue for a lifetime,with many dreams,we have motivation to fight for our life.The opposite side of dream is reality.We have to face reality everyday,reality is what we perceive in our life.Reality always frustrates us to be successful.We need to balance them.

Thank you very much!非常感謝！在接下來(lái)的時(shí)間里，我將和大家一起分享一下學(xué)英語(yǔ)的苦辣酸甜。最主要的，是想通過(guò)我在北大六年教學(xué)經(jīng)歷、美國(guó)六年生活經(jīng)歷、“新東方”六年教學(xué)經(jīng)歷，來(lái)和大家交流一下怎能樣盡快的提高大家的listeing and speaking comprehensions.
我的經(jīng)歷具體是這樣的：我是1980年從內(nèi)蒙古考到北大的，比大家高了好多屆。我在北大學(xué)英文，然后又在北大教書(shū)。教書(shū)六年之后，在1990年，我求學(xué)到美國(guó)。我發(fā)現(xiàn)到了，美國(guó)一下飛機(jī)，我一句話也聽(tīng)不懂。當(dāng)時(shí)我想，至少我學(xué)了幾年英文，所以打算繼續(xù)學(xué)英文。正在我在考慮到哪里去的時(shí)候，我聽(tīng)到一種說(shuō)法，叫做everybody in American can speak English。那么我又怎么能夠在美國(guó)賺錢呢？所以，我必須改變這個(gè)想法。于是我該學(xué)了學(xué)計(jì)算機(jī)。計(jì)算機(jī)碩士畢業(yè)以后，我在美國(guó)的貝爾實(shí)驗(yàn)室做了兩年的軟件工程師。在1995年，“新東方”的創(chuàng)始人俞敏洪來(lái)到了美國(guó)，在他的建議下，我有回國(guó)，開(kāi)始參加“新東方”的創(chuàng)建。我和俞敏洪在北大是同班同學(xué)——“新東方”的五個(gè)“創(chuàng)業(yè)元老”里有三個(gè)是北大的同學(xué)。除了我們兩個(gè)還有一個(gè)是“新東方”的圖書(shū)總策劃包凡一老師，他是“新東方”的寫作專家。我在大學(xué)時(shí)代是他們的班長(zhǎng)，他們兩個(gè)當(dāng)時(shí)是全班最落后的學(xué)生。我那時(shí)的主要精力和時(shí)間都花在每天晚上陪他們兩個(gè)在湖畔散步，勸

在美國(guó)的時(shí)候我學(xué)計(jì)算機(jī)之前，還有一段小插曲。那就是我險(xiǎn)些報(bào)考了哈佛的人力學(xué)系。我離開(kāi)北大之后，吸引我的學(xué)校只有兩所，一所是英國(guó)的牛津大學(xué)，就是Oxford University；另一所呢就是Harvard University。那時(shí)候，哈佛大學(xué)人力學(xué)系的系主任，對(duì)我進(jìn)行了面試之后覺(jué)得可以錄取我，并且提出可以給我提供五年的Scholarship。他說(shuō)：“你只要答應(yīng)我一個(gè)條件，”我說(shuō)：“什么條件？”——這個(gè)教授研究的是非常偏的一個(gè)科目，所以招生好多年都沒(méi)有找到一個(gè)合適的學(xué)生。他是在人力學(xué)系研究中國(guó)文化中苗族文化的'。——他說(shuō)：“只要你跟我學(xué)苗語(yǔ)，我就給你獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金�！蔽艺f(shuō)：“可以�！钡�，我冷靜下來(lái)之后想：我拿了這些錢，在五年之內(nèi)，過(guò)的是天上人間的日子。就算不能從哈佛大學(xué)畢業(yè)，也能夠肄業(yè)。將來(lái)至少能夠跟孫子夸口說(shuō)，爺爺當(dāng)年進(jìn)過(guò)哈佛。但是這還不行，因?yàn)槲夷玫竭@個(gè)學(xué)位，最終的目的是要找個(gè)飯碗。我就考慮，在北美這樣大片的土地上，有多少地方需要我這樣的人才呢？——苗族文化專家。通過(guò)“研究”，我發(fā)現(xiàn)，全北美只有一個(gè)地方需要，就是哈佛大學(xué)、人力學(xué)系、這位老師。所以，如果全北美只有一個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)，他的目標(biāo)里只有我一個(gè)人，那么這個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)是百分之百的！但是，五年之后，我仍然處于一個(gè)非常劣勢(shì)的地位。我如果能在哈佛大學(xué)拿到學(xué)位，接下來(lái)的夢(mèng)想就是當(dāng)上哈佛大學(xué)的教授、終身教授。美國(guó)大學(xué)關(guān)于終身教授的規(guī)定：只要這個(gè)教授不去世，你就別想替代他。我想，萬(wàn)一我六十歲就“夭折“了，那位教授八十多歲還健在，我也還是助教。想到這兒，我就對(duì)那位教授說(shuō)：“I want to learn something different。”

because intentions are closely related to fairness and certainly affect the degree of honesty/dishonesty, there is a wide spread confusion about honesty--and a general belief that being dishonest means that one always correctly understands if their behavior is either honest or dishonest. self-perception of our morality is non-static and volatile. its often at the moment we refuse to consider other perspectives that there is a clear indication we are not pursuing the truth, rather than simply and e_clusively at the moment we can muster up evidence that we are right. socrates had much to say about truth, honesty and morality, and e_plained that if people really understood that their behavior was wrong — then they simply wouldnt do it — by definition. unfortunately, honesty in the western tradition has been marginalized to specific instances — perhaps because a thorough understanding of honesty collides with ideologies of all types. ideologies and idealism often e_aggerate and suppress evidence in order to support their perspectives — at the e_pense of the truth. this process erodes the practice and understanding of honesty. to an ideologist the truth quite often becomes insignificant, what matters most are their ideals and what ever supports their desires to enjoy and spread those ideals.
human beings are inherently biased about what they believe to be good due to individual tastes & backgrounds, but once one understands that a decidedly biased approach to what is true — is inherently dishonest, one can also understand how idealism and ideology have poorly served the quest for an honest, moral society. both honesty and morality require that we base our opinions about what is good — upon unbiased ideas of what is true — rather than vice versa (determining what is true based on what we feel is good) — the way all ideologies would have us believe.
